In this modern twist on an ancient Japanese art form, you’ll learn how to use foam blocks and fabric to create a beautiful quilt-like artwork without ever picking up a needle or thread. Leave this beginner focused class with your very own cute and spooky fabric mosaic of a cat sitting on the moon. 

With hands on guidance, you’ll customize the design through your fabric choices and background shapes, making an artwork that is uniquely yours. All tools and materials will be provided but please feel free to bring any fabric you may have laying around to use or share if you’d like. Skills and information taught in this class include:

• Which materials to use and why

• Craft knife technique and safety

• Fabric cutting, tucking, and manipulation methods

• Design drafting tips and tricks for making your own templates in the future

This fun and relaxing craft is the perfect way to use up those fabric scraps from your stash or a great introduction into textile art in general. Your instructor, Catalena (Cat) Eskey of Cottage Chip Hand Embroidery, teaches from a place of encouragement to play and experiment with a focus on the joy of creating. This is a class where you’ll learn both the rules of an art form and how to break them.
