Frequently Asked Questions

  • I’m inspired by nature, color, small things that feel magical, or that give respite to my spirit. I work with themes of death, rebirth, protection, and vulnerability. While some of my work is more serious I also think that it is incredibly important to make things that feel playful, kitschy, or don’t have a profound meaning beyond the joy of creating them.

I have a deep reverence for my materials themselves and am often inspired by found textiles and items. Plus, how the fiber itself resists or relaxes into certain stitches and manipulations.

  • I am by no means the first human to pick up a needle and thread to make things that are interesting rather than functional. In fact, I am proud to be one link in the chain of embroiderers throughout time and across nations making art with their fiber.

What does make me different from most though is my approach to stitching as a mindfulness practice. My pieces have intention and care woven through every stitch, reminding me with each moment, each breath, of my gratitude that I am here and that this will take the time that it takes. That I do not need to worship at the altar of efficiency. I am human, and to be human is to slow down.

  • If you have seen me previously at a market you may have noticed that my prices in this shop differ to those at my in-person shows.

For the last year or so of markets I have not maintained my online shop. Partially because it is challenging to do so, and partially as an experiment. Website hosting is not an inexpensive venture, especially if I need to have one that looks professional and has a functioning store. The prices listed here reflect (honestly only a small part of) the additional costs and labor of making all of this happen.

So is it worth it? Well, that’s for you to decide! If you, my buyers and collectors, feel that the convenience of buying online vs coming to see me in real life at a market is worth it then it makes sense for me to maintain the online shop, but if not, then I know I should focus more on in person sales.

Hopefully in time I’ll figure that out. I’m a one person show here and not specifically educated in business, so I’m just out here trying things and seeing what sticks. Thanks for being around for that :)

  • Yes. If they are not sold out yet there should be several open spots for customs included in this Summer 2026 drop. In the customs category you can select the type you’re interested in (jewelry, clothing, artwork) and pay the deposit price to hold your spot.

If those are sold out and you don’t mind a bit of a wait, please feel free to contact me to discuss potential projects and timelines.

  • You can reach me through my contact page on this website or directly via email to cat@cottagechip.com. Please be advised that I treat my email like I treat my embroidery- slow and steady. Most of the time I respond within a week.

I don’t advise DMing on Instagram unless we already follow each other as message requests can sometimes get lost in the void.
